Pune: Impostor dupes hostel owner of Rs 90,000

PUNE: A cyber fraudster posed as an armyman and duped the owner of a girl’s hostel to the tune of Rs 90,000 on the pretext of admitting his daughters at the facility.
The incident occurred on March 1. The 26-year-old woman registered an FIR against the fraudster and his accomplice with the Wanworie police on Thursday.
The woman has stated that she received a phone call from the fraudster, who said that he wanted to admit his two daughters at the hostel by paying a deposit of Rs20,000.
The woman gave details of two of her bank account to the fraudster but he called back to say that the money could not be transferred. He then requested her to give details of her phonebanking application.
While she did receive some money initially, she switched off the app, after it showed an error. The woman later found that Rs90,000 had been siphoned off from her bank account.
