Two killed, four others injured in accident on Pune-Mumbai highway

Two men died and three others were injured after a car jumped the road median and rammed another car on Pune-Mumbai highway near Kamshet, about 45km from the city, around 4pm on Thursday.

PUNE: Two men died and three others were injured after a car jumped the road median and rammed another car on Pune-Mumbai highway near Kamshet, about 45km from the city, around 4pm on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj Pyatis (28) of Yerawada and Tejas Sonawane (23) of Lohiyanagar. The driver, P K Koli (23), of Tadiwala Road, and Akshay Khajage (23) and Ram Dubal (20), both from Yerawada, are undergoing treatment at a hospital near the accident spot.

The car driver, Rohit Dodakekar (31), of Kalewadi is also undergoing treatment. He was driving towards Pune when the accident occurred.
Assistant sub-inspector Santosh Shinde of the Kamshet police said the five friends were heading towards Malavali near Lonavla. "When their car reached near Darshan Dhaba along the highway, Koli lost control over the car. It jumped the road median and rammed Dodakekar's car," he said.
Manoj and Tejas were killed on the spot. "The police and residents of the area rushed the injured to the hospital. Our probe is on," Shinde added.
