PATNA: Even as the last date of submission of application forms for admission to regular MA, MSc and MCom courses of Patna University (PU) has been extended by three weeks, the time for submission of forms for all undergraduate (UG) and some postgraduate (PG) programmes running under the self-financing mode ended on Thursday. PU has already received nearly 38,000 forms for admission to these courses.
The decision to extend the date for submission of forms for admission to regular PG courses till June 15 was taken by PU due to delay in publication of results of three-year degree courses in arts, science and commerce.

“As admission to these courses is made strictly on the basis of marks secured by students in Degree Part III (honours) exams, quite a large number of students could not apply for want of marks. Patna University Students’ Union leaders had also been demanding extension of the last date of online submission of forms for PG admissions,” said PU students’ welfare dean N K Jha.
However, admission to three regular PG courses will be made through entrance tests. According to the schedule finalized by PU, the test for admission to MA in personnel management and industrial relations (PMIR), MEd and LLM will be conducted on June 1, 8 and 15, respectively.
For admission to PG courses running under the self-financing mode, the entrance tests will be held on June 1 (biochemistry), June 3 (biotechnology and journalism and mass communications), June 4 (environmental science management, social work, MCA and women’s studies) and June 7 (library and information science).
The entrance test for PG diploma in industrial and safety management will be held on June 7 and that for computer science, women and child welfare, women’s studies and yogic studies will be conducted on June 10, 11, 12 and 13, respectively.

There will be no entrance test for admission to MBA as candidates are directly called for personal interview on the basis of their MAT scores. The entrance test for admission to MA in criminology and rural studies will be held on June 14 and 15, respectively.
The centralized entrance test for admission to BCom (honours) course in Vanijya Mahavidyalaya and Magadh Mahila College will be conducted on May 28. Similarly, that for admission to BA (honours) programme in Patna College, B N College and Magadh Mahila College will be held on May 29 and the test for admission to BSc (honours) course in Patna Science College, B N College and Magadh Mahila College will be held on June 4. The test for admission to Bachelor of fine arts at College of Arts and Crafts will be held on May 27.
The entrance test for admission to the UG courses running under the self-financing mode at different colleges of PU will be held between June 1 and 19. These courses include Bachelor of library and information science, BCA (science), BCA (arts), BBA, Bachelor of mass communications, BA (social work), BSc (biotechnology), BSc (environmental science) and functional English.
The last date for admission to all the UG and PG courses, both under the conventional and self-financing modes, is July 9. An induction meet of the newly admitted students will be held between July 10 and 15 and classes of the next academic session will begin on July 16.
