BENGALURU: After the poll rout, Congress and JD(S) on Friday sought to gloss over their differences and asserted they were here to stay in power. While the Congress stated CM HD Kumaraswamy will not resign, the latter shed inhibitions and visited Congress strongman Siddaramaiah’s house’s seeking better coordination.

“The parties have realised they must keep their flock together to prevent a BJP bid,” a senior Congress leader said, referring to a dicey numbers game.
The BJP will continue with its wait-and-watch strategy until Modi’s team checks into the office for a second term.
The poll setback triggered emotional drama: Kumaraswamy, whose son Nikhil lost to Sumalatha in Mandya, met senior Congress leaders and threatened to resign. Hassan Lok Sabha seat winner Prajwal Revanna offered to quit so that his grandfather HD Deve Gowda (who lost from Tumakuru) could get elected.
Kumaraswamy convened a meeting of his cabinet and discussed the poll outcome on Friday. The Congress leaders indirectly blamed the party high command for the dismal performance.
