HYDERABAD: On his maiden visit to Hyderabad after sweeping the elections in
Andhra Pradesh, chief minister-elect
YS Jaganmohan Reddy was given a 16-vehicle convoy by the
Telangana Intelligence on Saturday.
In violation of traffic rules, none of the vehicles — a mix of black Toyoto Fortuners and Prados — had
registration plates. The Andhra Pradesh chief secretary had on Friday written to his Telangana counterpart about Jagan’s arrival in Hyderabad and requested for security, transport and other facilities to be provided to him as per protocol.
Vehicles coming in from Khairathabad and heading towards Somajiguda and at
Banjara Hills Road No 3 were halted temporarily and to make way for Jagan’s convoy as he called on chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and governor
ESL Narasimhan.
A large number of people gathered near Pragathi Bhavan and a few breached security to halt the YSRC chief’s vehicle, following which police intervened to restore order.
