HOWRAH: Police are yet to make a breakthrough in the probe into the suspected rape and murder of a woman in her 30s, whose naked body was found at the bus terminus adjoining Howrah station on Friday. The body, which bore multiple injuries, has been sent for post-mortem.
Sleuths suspect the victim was mentally unstable. CCTV images showed her roaming near the Howrah station area for the previous two days, when she was decently dressed.
Police suspect someone might have left behind the mentally unstable woman or she might have had lost her way. Police said the CCTV images showed her carrying a bag, but it could not be found anywhere near her body. Cops suspect her killers might have stolen it. Police have recovered her clothes, torn and bloodstained. Amit Rathode, DC north of Howrah City Police, said, "We are waiting for the final autopsy report."
