Flower Show in Kodaikanal from May 30

The 10-day annual Kodai Vizha and the 58th Flower Show would begin from May 30, said Collector T.G. Vinay here on Sunday.

The festival is to be inaugurated by Forests Minister Dindigul C Srinivasan in the presence of Tourism Minister Vellamandi N. Natarajan and Agriculture Minister R. Duraikannu and other senior officials from the respective departments at the famous Bryant Park where public and tourists can participate.

The Collector said that the Flower Show would be celebrated from May 30 to June 1 (three days) and the Kodai Vizha would go on till June 8. During the festival, folk arts and dance, traditional sports, boat race and dog show would be conducted jointly by the Department of Tourism and Horticulture.

According to officials, aspirants interested in registering as participants in the various shows may contact the Tourism office here in person or shall contact at 04542-241675, 9176995867, 9500493287 (Deputy Director, Horticulture).

The district administration had given a facelift to the hill station some two months ago and the Kodai Lake and other tourist spots sported a new look.

With the model code of conduct that came to an end with effect from May 26, weekly grievance day meeting would be conducted at the Collectorate on Mondays beginning May 27, Dr Vinay said,
