NEW DELHI: From complaints regarding poor facilities and erratic power supply to a system that switched off, students sitting for JNU’s first ever online entrance test on Monday had a harrowing time.
A number of students also complained that their examination centres were changed only a day before the test.
Over 1.16 lakh aspirants will be appearing for the online entrance exam of JNU.
This is the first time the varsity has switched to computer-based entrance exams, which are being conducted by the National Testing Agency in 122 cities in the country.
Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examinations and the Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology 2019, which commenced on Monday, will go on till May 30.
Gatha Malhotra, an applicant from Delhi, complained that the power supply at the Ghitorni centre was quite erratic. “It was insanely hot today and the fact that the power kept fluctuating didn’t help matters much,” she said.
Another applicant, Sanjana Arora, said she got a message from the NTA on Sunday afternoon regarding a change of exam centre. “I got to know that my centre had changed from Preet Vihar to Mundka Industrial Area. The centre was located in such a distant area that many couldn’t reach there on time.”
According to NTA officials, the centre for some students were changed due to a clash of dates with the JEE (Advanced) test. “We sent text messages to the candidates and repeated the same on May 26 in case someone missed them earlier.”
