LUCKNOW: Four persons of a family along with four others died after consuming spurious liquor in Raniganj area of Barabanki on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as- Chhotelal and his three sons- Ramesh, Sonu and Mukesh. The four victims worked as mechanics of generators.
The identity of the four others is yet to be ascertained.
The Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh told ToI that taking note of the liquor deaths, he has ordered suspension of Inspector Ramnagar Rajesh Kumar Singh and recommended the suspension of Circle Officer (CO) Pawan Gautum. Initial probe has suggested that the liquor which the victims had consumed was purchased from a licensed country-made liquor outlet indicating that spurious liquor was being sold from the same outlet - something which will be verified in the due course of investigation.
Superintendent of police (Barabanki) Ajay Sahni told TOI that prima facie it has come to fore that Chhotelal along with his sons had returned from work in the city and then had a drinking session at a liquor shop owned by Daanvir Singh in Raniganj village under Ramnagar police station. "Around 6.30 pm, the four started feeling dizziness and also lost vision, later they were admitted to the local CHC were doctors declared brought dead," added Sahni. 11 others also consumed liquor from the same shop.
