MEERUT: A 23-year-old woman got her own father murdered by her lover as he opposed their relationship. According to police sources, on Saturday, the bullet-ridden body of one Ajit Singh, 55, was found in his farm at Baghpat’s Hewa village under Chhaprauli police station.
During investigations it came to light that Manisha, the deceased’s daughter was in a relationship with Mukul Kumar, a youth of another nearby village.
However, her father was against the relationship and eventually, Manisha manipulated Mukul into removing Ajit from their way.
“On Saturday night, when Ajit had gone to his farm, Manisha alerted Mukul who along with his two friends reached the spot and shot Ajit dead. It was a case with no clues whatsoever but call details of his daughter revealed that she was in a relationship with Mukul and intense investigations helped us unearth the plot,” said Shailesh Kumar Pandey, SP Baghpat.
Police sources further revealed that the woman was already married and there was a case of marital discord. And, hence she tried to divert police attention towards her estranged in-laws. “She was married to a person in Shamli and there was an ongoing dispute. In addition, she was in a relationship with this youth as well and hence her father opposed her. During investigations, the woman even tried to push the needle of suspicion towards her in-laws in order to protect her lover and his associates,” added Pandey.
Justifying the murder, a remorseless Manisha told media, “My father was an evil man. He used to beat us all at home and was gradually selling off family property. Despite being his daughter he had evil eye on me as well.”
The police have arrested Mukul and Manisha. Hunt is on for the rest.
