AURANGABAD: Three people including the former husband of a 40-year-old woman have been booked by the Cantonment police for allegedly abusing and hitting her with an iron rod on Tuesday, causing her head injuries.
The woman had sought some important documents which had remained at the residence of her former husband. The man promised to give the documents to her and asked her to come to Nagarnaka.
He then picked up a quarrel with her once she reached the location.
Police said that the woman, a resident of Shah Colony, Padegaon got a divorce from her husband sometime back. Since all her important documents were in her former husband’s residence, she called and asked him to hand over the papers. The man asked her to come to the Ahmednagar Naka to collect the documents. She accordingly reached the area around 8.30am on Tuesday and waited for him. The man arrived with two of his male relatives. They picked a quarrel with her and subsequently started beating her up and her former hubby hit her on the head, causing injuries. The police said that the three people have been booked under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation).
In another case, the Waluj police have registered an offence against a 55-year-old man for beating and injuring his wife. The woman (50) alleged that her husband, who was staying with his second wife, had arrived at her home on Monday morning. He demanded his share in the house from her. When she told that since he had married another woman and was staying with her, the question of his share in the property did not arise. This angered the man, who showered abuses on her and picked up a stone and hit her in the head, causing her injuries. The police said that they have booked him under IPC sections 324, 504 and 506.
The police have also registered an offence against a woman for marrying another man despite having a husband. The Jawaharnagar police said that the man (32) has lodged a complaint against his wife, accusing her of marrying another man. He said that the woman is living separately and has not obtained a divorce or his consent to marry another man. The police have booked the woman under IPC section 494 (marrying again during lifetime of husband).
