FAIZABAD: With stray cattle running amok in streets, Faizabad district administration has issued orders to lodge FIRs and arrest cattle owners, who allow their herd to move unbridled in public space.
In past few months, there has been a rise in incidents of cattle attacking people, triggering accidents on national highways and trampling upon and injuring people.
Talking to TOI, Faizabad chief veterinary officer V K Shrivastava, said, "There have been cases of deaths and injuries from stray cattle attacks.
We are working on a war footing to minimise such incidents."
Village secretaries, block development officers, executive officers of municipal boards in semi-urban areas and assistant municipal commissioners in municipality areas have been authorised to identify and book owners of stray cattle. If owners can't be identified, the animals must be sent to cow shelters.
"A high-powered committee has been formed under chairmanship of district magistrate to monitor clearance of stray cattle from roads. Panel includes chief development officer, chief veterinary officer, district agriculture officer and senior superintendent of police," said Shrivastava.
Faizabad district magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha, said, "Teams will keep vigil on national highways for stray cattle, which often cause accidents."
