17-year-old found dead at Howrah home

HOWRAH: A 17-year-old girl, who had scored 72% in her Madhyamik examinations, was found hanging at her home in Domjur’s Bakra area in Howrah late on Saturday night. In a note, the girl accused her family members of forcing her to marry a distant relative. Cops have now initiated a case of unnatural death.
However, in the note, the girl did not mention that she was trying to end her life.She only accused her family members and wrote she wanted to pursue higher studies. The 17-year-old’s father is a garments trader.
The incident took place on Saturday night when a distant relative reportedly came to the house and allegedly beat her up before leaving. At that time, there was nobody in the house.
Later, the girl’s body was found hanging inside the toilet. Cops are now waiting for the post mortem report to know the exact cause of death.
