BENGALURU: A 16-year-old Bhadravathi boy who thought he got two marks short of his expectations in SSLC examinations held earlier this year, applied for re-evaluation only to see his score go up by six marks. He now shares the second-highest scorer’s slot.
Satwik Kamath, a student of Poorna Pragna Education Centre in Bhadravathi, knew something was amiss when he scored 618/625.
“After writing the exams, I was confident of scoring at least above 620.
The result disappointed me. Though my parents were happy, they were also not satisfied,” said Satwik, who topped his school with the new score.
After discussing with his teachers and parents, Satwik applied for re-evaluation which brought his total up to 624/625.
Satwik, the only child of Subhash Kamath, deputy general manager in a private firm, and Roopa Kamath, a homemaker, said his parents motivated him. “They would sit with me while I studied to guide me,” he said.
His school teachers were also supportive. He has joined Malnad PU College in Shivamogga and aspires to be an IITian.
A week ago, after re-evaluation, three students joined the toppers with 625/625 score.
Most of them matched their answers with the key, realising they were not marked accordingly.
