AGRA: Nearly a year after a minor girl escaped from confinement of her rapists and lodged an FIR against six people, including a woman, Malawan police of Etah district apprehended a couple wanted in connection with her abduction and gang-rape.
Rachna and her husband Rakesh Sharma of Hodilpur village, under Soron police jurisdiction of Kasganj district, were nabbed on Monday morning from GT road’s Ashupur intersection.

Vipin Tyagi, SHO of Malawan, said Rakesh along with Rachna’s brothers Rahul and Pawan, and two others, Neeraj and Bantu, were booked under IPC section 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 376 D (gang rape), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and provisions of POCSO Act. Rachna was booked for abduction and intimidation.
While Rahul, Pawan and Neeraj are already in jail, Bantu is still at large.
Tyagi said on July 21, 2018, Rahul and his associates abducted a 15-year-old girl as he wanted to marry her. The girl rejected him. The group allegedly took the girl to two separate hideouts, including Rachna’s house, where her husband, brothers and others took turns to rape her.
The girl somehow managed to escape and reported the matter, Tyagi added.
Both Rachna and her husband Rakesh carried a reward of Rs 15,000 each. Rakesh was employed with the railways in Uttarakhand.
