Tirupati: Son beats up dad over land

Unconfirmed sources claimed that the victim later approached west division police for protection and the cops have booked a case.

Tirupati: In a shocking incident, an 88-year-old man was brutally attacked by his son and daughter-in-law after a dispute broke between them over a piece of land owned by the victim, who wanted to dispose of it to clear his debts.

According to the locals of Anantaveedi in Tirupati, elder son N. Vijaya Bhaskar and his wife Neeraja beat up the victim N. Muni Krishnaiah on Tuesday morning. Neeraja's brother Vamsi Krishna was also reported to be an accomplice in this.

“Vijaya Bhaskar asked his father Muni Kishnaiah for a share in the property owned by him. Muni Kishnaiah rejected the proposal and clarified that he wanted to sell off the land to clear his debts and live a peaceful life thereafter with the rest of the money. This irked Vijaya Bhaskar and Neeraja, who then beat him up and smeared chilli powder on his face,” an eyewitness said. “Vijaya Bhaskar then attacked Muni Krishnaiah with an iron rod and a stick as a result of which, he sustained severe injuries and had to be shifted to SVR Ruia government general hospital for treatment.”
