Both Abhange and Godbole want to become doctors and are eagerly waiting for their NEET results.

Godbole’s father owns a private typing business outside the Pandharpur district court. His mother, Swati, a homemaker, was ecstatic about his marks. “Nobody in our family has ever been an engineer or a doctor. I am very happy,” she said.

The father, Mukund, said his son worked really hard. “We are waiting for the NEET results on June 5 and hope Vinayak realises his dream of becoming a doctor,” he said.
Godobole, who scored 100 percentile in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB), has set his sights on only two colleges. “My first choice is AIIMS and the second is KEM Mumbai. But I know that the NEET and AIIMS results may not match the CET results. But I really hope to become a doctor. I would be the only one from my family,” he said. He had studied in a Marathi-medium school and scored 95.23% in his HSC examinations.

Abhange is no longer disappointed about having scored 82% in his HSC examinations. Even though he scored 100 percentile in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), he still wants to pursue medicine. “I had expected over 90%. I am happy that I scored well in CET. However, the real results for all MBBS aspirants is tomorrow (June 5) when the NEET results will be out,” he said.
Abhange’s father is a zilla parishad schoolteacher and his mother is a homemaker. “I didn’t know till afternoon that the CET results were out. I found out I had done so well only late in the afternoon when I checked the results. My elder brother is pursuing his MBBS in a college in Mumbai and I hope I crack the AIIMS entrance,” he said.
Other top rankers were from districts like Dhule, Ratnagiri, Beed, Solapur and Nashik. In Mumbai, the top spot was held by Rushabh Gosar with 99.996 percentile in PCB and Ridayesh Parab at 99.992 percentile was the PCM topper.
With a score 192 out of 200, Parab is awaiting JEE (A) results. “I was expecting a good score in MHT-CET because according to the answer key, I had obtained a full score in maths,” he said. He wants to pursue computer science at IIT or National Institute of Technology.
Dhruvi Doshi, a student of Prakash College was the girl PCM topper. “I solved several question sets so I was expecting to do well. I would like to pursue computer science at VJTI,” said Doshi who scored 191 in the entrance test and 93% in HSC.
Like the state toppers, the PCB toppers from the city too have their eyes set on the NEET results. “I have appeared for NEET and my final decision would depend on those results,” said Rushab Gosar of Prakash College, Kandivli. He scored 84.65% in HSC exams.
Girl topper Navika Jatar also has city’s medical colleges on her mind. A student of KC College, Jatar said, “I have shortlisted KEM and Grant Medical College.”
