Bhagalpur: Security beefed up for Eid today

BHAGALPUR: The district police will increase the number of personnel at 389 strategic locations during Eid celebrations.
Taking stock of the law and order situation in Bhagalpur and Naugachia police district, DM Pranav Kumar, Bhagalpur SSP Ashish Bharti and Naugachia SP Nidhi Rani issued a joint directive on Monday to deploy additional security forces along with magistrates at 222 locations in Bhagalpur, 87 in Kahalgaon subdivision and 80 in Naugachia subdivision.
Police personnel and intelligence bureau sleuths will also be posted in civvies in different localities. All security personnel have been asked to keep a watch on antisocial elements. A control room has also been set up to monitor the situation round the clock.
The health department has also been directed to provide 24 hours services in case of need, whereas officials of public health and engineering department have been asked to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in all localities. The Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been directed to provide potable water through tankers in view of intense heat.
Earlier, CRPF and district police staged a flag march in Tatarpur, Shahjangi, Pankhatoli, Aliganj, Nathnagar and Barhepura on Monday evening.
Besides security, Movement of heavy commercial vehicles has also been restricted in Tatarpur and other areas where huge crowd gathers to celebrate Eid. “We have reviewed the law and order situation and directed the police officials, SHOs and police forces to ensure peaceful celebrations and festivities during Eid,” Bhagalpur SSP said.
