40 kids fall ill after having kulfi: Bareilly

Nearly 40 children were taken ill after they consumed kulfi at Daulatpur and Sarehi villages under Mitauli police station of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Tuesday night.

BAREILLY: Nearly 40 children were taken ill after they consumed kulfi at Daulatpur and Sarehi villages under Mitauli police station of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Tuesday night. According to police, it is suspected that the milk used in making the ice cream was contaminated.
The children were admitted to the community health centre and most of them were discharged on Tuesday night while six kids were discharged on Wednesday.
One child is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. A team of food safety and drug administration (FSDA) reached the two villages to collect samples.
Most children complaint of stomach ache and started vomiting after having kulfi sold by vendor who cycles to the village every day. More than 25 children at Sareli were taken ill, said a villager.
SDM, Mitauli, Digvijay Kumar who visited the affected villages and hospital, said, “It seemed that milk used for making kulfi was contaminated. One child is undergoing treatment at the district hospital while all others have returned home.”
