PhD, MBA courses in Nalanda University from this year

PATNA: The governing board of Nalanda University (NU) in its seventeenth meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday gave its nod to start PhD and post-doctoral programmers from the upcoming academic session (2019-20). It would also offer part-time PhD programmes for working professionals.
As of now, only masters courses in schools of history, Buddhist studies and ecology and environmental science are offered.Besides, certificate courses are being offered by school of languages and literature in Sanskrit, Pali, Korean and English (academic writing).
The international varsity, having participation of 17 east Asian countries, will also start Centre of Bay of Bengal Studies from the upcoming academic session under BIMSTC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation).
The NU governing body also gave its nod to commence masters in business administration (MBA) programme in the School of Sustainable Development in the varsity.
The governing body also gave its nod to a proposal of making NU the nodal institution for ASEAN-India network of universities.
Moreover, a decision was also taken in the governing body meeting that the new campus of NU will be inaugurated in the next two to three months. The classes of the university are being run from a makeshift campus at Rajgir.
The new campus is being developed over a sprawling area of 455 acres near Rajgir, around 110km southeast from Patna, utilising funds to the tune of Rs 2,727.1 crore. The non-residential buildings on the new campus comprise two schools, administrative block, communication centre, campus amenities like international centre, amphitheatre, arcade, dining hall, faculty club, school, medical centre and infirmary, sports centre, commercial market, bank and post office, among others.
