United Kingdom’s leading cable TV platform, Sky has barred the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) from its platform indefinitely.
Sky Limited is a British media and telecommunications conglomerate owned by Comcast and headquartered in London, with operations in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.
A message on Sky’s website read in part, “794: NTA International; currently temporarily removed from EPG (Electronic Programme Guide).”

The suspension of NTA International came to public knowledge barely 24 hours after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) revoked the licences of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower 100.5FM.
Kawu Modibbo, the Director General of NBC announced the suspension of the two stations, owned by opposition politician, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, on Thursday.
Although the NBC had cited several infractions as the reason for the suspension, human rights groups claim the suspension was an attempt to stifle press freedom.
