BEGUSARAI: Union minister for
animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries
Giriraj Singh was on Saturday accorded a warm welcome by
BJP supporters on his maiden visit to
Begusarai after being inducted in the Union council of ministers for the second term.
Hundreds of supporters assembled at Simaria Ghat to felicitate Giriraj, who won the recently concluded Lok Sabha election from the Begusarai seat with a record margin.
As soon as he alighted from the vehicle, slogans like ‘Narendra Modi zindabad’ and ‘Giriraj Singh Zindabad’ rent the air. The minister visited Siddhashram on the bank of the Ganga at Simaria and sought blessing from its chief priest Swami Chidatmana Maharaj.
Giriraj had launched his election campaign from the same place and emerged triumphant by defeating CPI nominee and former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar. The minister reached Dinkar roundabout in a flower-decked vehicle and offered garland to the bust of noted Hindi litterateur Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
