Intensify patrolling: DGP to Begusarai cops
BEGUSARAI: Director general of police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey on Sunday said police patrolling will be intensified in the district to ensure greater visibility and senior officers will do regular field visits to boost the morale of subordinates.
“Some crime incidents took place in the district during the last few weeks. However, the local police have succeeded in cracking most of the cases and arresting the accused,” he told mediapersons after a surprise inspection of several police stations in Begusarai on Sunday.

The DGP added that he has given tips as well as instructions to local police officers on controlling crime. Proactive policing strategies will help to prevent and reduce crime and potentially improve relations between police and the communities they serve, he said.
The DGP praised Begusarai SP Awakash Kumar for his timely intervention and solving most of the cases. The surprise inspection of DGP at Begusarai on Sunday was aimed at reviewing the law and order situation after CM Nitish Kumar expressed his displeasure over the rising crime graph in the state during a meeting with senior police officers last week. The CM’s thrust was on making the police more and more visible, with DIGs, SPs and DSPs all becoming part of regular patrolling.
Police sources said the DGP’s visit to Begusarai came as a surprise to local police officers and even the SP came to know about it only 20 minutes before his arrival. The SP soon informed the SDPOs posted under various sub-divisions about the DGP’s arrival. Station House Officers (SHOs) posted in various police stations of the district also reached Begusarai SP office for the meeting.
The DGP, during his half- an-hour stay, directed police officials to act tough on criminals to check crime. He said the government is keen on bringing the crime graph down. “This can, however, happen only when the criminals are on the run and police are chasing them,” Pandey said.
