Four Kerala Express passengers die due to heat in Jhansi

Heat wave allegedly killed four senior citizen passengers, who were traveling to Coimbatore in Kerala Express. The incident took place on Monday evening.

JHANSI: Heat wave allegedly killed four senior citizen passengers, who were traveling to Coimbatore in Kerala Express. The incident took place on Monday evening.
According to railway authorities, three passengers including a woman were found dead in S8 and S9 coach when train reached Jhansi station from Agra Cantt. The fourth passenger in critical condition was rushed to railway hospital, but he later succumbed.
After the incident, on Tuesday chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed is condolence on the death of four passengers due to heat wave.

Speaking to TOI, Manoj Singh, public relation officer of Jhansi railway division said, “A group of 65 passengers had boarded train from Agra Cantt in S9 and S8 coach of Kerala express at around 4:02 pm. Majority of the passengers were above 65-years and were on UP tour. When train reached Jhansi at 7 pm, three passengers were found dead, while fourth was in critical condition, who was taken hospital but later succumbed.”
“The autopsy report of the deceased passengers is yet to be received, but the co-passengers traveling along with victims have reported that, all four were complaining of uneasiness due to hot weather,” said PRO Manoj Singh.
Victims were identified as Bundur Palanisame (80), Bal Krishna Ramaswami (67), Dhanlaxmi (74) and Subbaraiyya (87).
Earlier on June 7, a Ghazipur resident identified as Rajesh Gupta was found dead in general coach of Kushinagar Express due to excessive heat. His body was recovered at Babina station before Jhansi junction.
Similarly on June 1, a teenage girl identified as Sita died in general coach of UP Jansapark Kranti express due to heat.
Monday temperature in Jhansi was recorded 48.1 degree Celsius.
