Fire prevented in running Yeswantpur-Howrah train in Visakhapatnam city limits
RPF staff rushed to the spot and controlled the fire with fire extinguishers available in the train.
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel averted a major fire mishap in a running train in Visakhapatnam city limits on Tuesday.
The RPF staff – PV Ratnam, BR Krishna, SS Murthy and Ch Srinivas, who were on escorting duty in the train 12864 Yeswantpur-Howrah noticed smoke and fire in the coach number B1 of the train and alerted the loco pilots to stop the train. A fire with dense smoke came out from the wheels of the bogie.
Immediately, they rushed to the spot and controlled the fire with fire extinguishers available in the train.

The train then restarted safely and reached the destination.
“Our RPF staff’s timely action has been appreciated. They will be awarded at the highest level,” the RPF Waltair divisional security commissioner Jitendra Srivastava told TOI.
