LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Oakland Raiders

Oakland Raiders will be the subject of this season's edition of HBO's 'Hard Knocks'

With a cast of characters that includes colorful head coach Jon Gruden, outspoken wide receiver Antonio Brown and three controversial first-round draft picks, the Oakland Raiders should provide a number of storylines as the subject of this year's HBO docu-drama, "Hard Knocks."

The new season will premiere on Aug. 6.

In Gruden's first season at the helm – after spending the previous nine years as the color analyst on "Monday Night Football" – the Raiders stumbled to a 4-12 record. That triggered a huge offseason spending spree, topped by the acquisition of perhaps the game's best wideout in Brown.

In what will likely be their final season in Oakland before moving to Las Vegas, the Raiders haven't yet announced where their training camp will take place.

This will be the 14th season of "Hard Knocks," which will premiere this summer.

Oakland was one of five possibilities for this year's edition – along with the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions and New York Giants.

“If you’re a fan of football or great storytelling, 'Hard Knocks' with the Oakland Raiders is going to be must-see television,” Peter Nelson, executive vice president for HBO Sports, wrote in a press release announcing the decision. “We are so grateful to this storied franchise for opening up its doors and allowing HBO and NFL Films to spend the summer with the Raiders in what promises to be a compelling and engaging training camp.”
