He swapped the snooker table for turntables… and Steve Davis is now hoping for a Big Break in the charts.

The legend is releasing his first album in September after forming musical outfit The Utopia Strong.

He has already secured a spot at Glastonbury in a few weeks and music website The Quietus has described first single Brainsurgeons 3 as a “storming debut”.

Not bad at the age of 61.

Davis, who started out as a DJ by fronting a weekly show on local radio in 1996, seven years after his sixth world snooker title, formed the group with Kavus Torabi and Coil’s Michael J York.

“The personal journey I’ve been on… with Kavus and Mike has been surreal,” says Steve. “Probably more so than even the path that unfolded for me in snooker.

"That was pretty far out but this seems otherworldly.”

Not bad for the man nicknamed Mr Boring as a snooker player…
