AGRA: Aligarh’s BJP MP Satish Gautam has landed himself in a controversy by targeting the entire Muslim community for the crime committed by the two alleged killers of the two-and-a-half-year-old-girl, who was brutally murdered last week in Tappal town of the district over a financial dispute.
Demanding harshest punishment for the two accused while talking to reporters after the ‘havan’ organized in the child’s memory on Wednesday, Gautam said: “They will be punished in such a manner that no one from their entire community would ever dare commit such a crime again”.

Gautam’s remark has evoked sharp reactions. Congress leader and former Samajwadi party MLA, Zameer Ullah Khan, accused the MP of playing politics. He said criminals didn’t have any religion or caste and hence targeting the entire Muslim community for the crime committed by two people was unjustified.
“I am writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Gautam’s utterances as it’s against BJP’s claims of being a party working for ‘sabka sath, sabka vikas and sabka vishwas”. He added that Gautam’s statement had defamed the entire Muslim community.
The police have arrested four persons, including the prime accused Zahid Ali, his wife, Shabusta, brother Mehndi Hassan and his associate Aslam, in connection with the brutal killing of the girl. Her mutilated body was spotted by a cleaner when stray dogs were dragging it from a garbage pile on June 3, three days after her abduction.
