Four members of Babuli Kol gang arrested in Chitrakoot

The anti-dacoity cell of the police on Friday arrested four dacoits after an encounter with notorious Babuli Kol gang near the Sati Mata mandir in Chitrakoot. However, Babuli Kol, the leader of the gang, managed to escape.

ALLAHABAD: The anti-dacoity cell of the police on Friday arrested four dacoits after an encounter with notorious Babuli Kol gang near the Sati Mata mandir in Chitrakoot. However, Babuli Kol, the leader of the gang, managed to escape.
The police have seized a huge cache of illegal weapons, cartridges and crude bombs from their possession.
“Acting upon a specific tip-off, a joint team of anti–dacoit cell along with Markundi and Manikpur police conducted an intense search operation and indulged in a shootout with the gang near Chiriha Bandh road," ADG ( Prayagraj zone) SN Sabat told TOI.

Sabat further added that police teams managed to nab four members of the gang who were identified as Phool Chandra of Majhgawan ( Satna), Umesh Kol of Babupur ( Satna), Deepak Kumar of Baura Mata village ( Chattishgarh) and Vijay Kumar Kol of Tihai ( Satna).
Sabat also maintained that specially-constituted police teams were intensifying combing operation in dense forest areas under the jurisdiction of Manikpur and Markundi police stations for the past two days after receiving confirmed intelligence inputs that bandit Babuli Kol along with his henchmen was moving from one area to another to avoid police action.
Officials said that combing operation against the dreaded bandit was going on in the hilly terrain of the Chitrakoot district.
