S. Prajeeth from Maharshi Vidya Mandir, who has topped in the State in the Joint Engineering Examination (Advanced), has scored 293 out of 372 marks. He has bagged All India Rank 33.

“I expected a good rank as I prepared for the past two years. But this is a big surprise to me,” said Prajeeth, who is aiming for Computer Science and Engineering or Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. “Understanding and thorough learning of CBSE and NCERT books will be very helpful for JEE Advance preparations,” he said.

Gaurav Prakash, ranked 278, said: “If I had prepared much better, I could have scored well. But I somehow want to get into IIT Bombay.”

The students were awaiting results since Friday morning, but they were declared only around 4 p.m. following technical glitches.

At least half a dozen students, mostly from the school, who had taken up integrated coaching through FIIT JEE have scored well. As many as 10 students were ranked among the top 1,000. Most students said they would opt for the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

A total of 1,61,319 candidates appeared for both papers 1 and 2 in JEE (Advanced) exam held on May 27. As many as 38,705 candidates have qualified.
