A mum who was told she was infertile after a horrific car crash is now miraculously pregnant with twins.
Danielle Bartley-Mould, 38, needed her right arm amputated in a bid to save her life after contracting septicaemia following the car accident in 2014.
The foster carer also suffered a broken neck and spine, but it wasn't until she went through 18 months of not having a period that she was told she could no longer have babies due to damage done to her fallopian tubes.
Danielle, and her husband, Tony, 58, from Market Weighton, York, spent their savings on two rounds of IVF and they are now over the moon to be expecting twins.
She said: "I woke up after 16 days in a coma to find my left arm had been amputated, my parents had to make the decision for me.
"My arm had been pushed out of the car window and the car rolled on it.
"I was in hospital for six weeks before I was allowed home, it was a huge shock to lose my arm but I did my best to stay positive for my son Ethan, now 11."
She explained how she and Tony began trying to have a baby at the start of 2018 but it "wasn't happening naturally" so she went to the doctor to see if her irregular periods were the reason.
The carer said the doctors told her it was normal she'd had some irregularity given it can take up to seven years for a body to recover from such trauma.
Danielle said she tried all sorts of tests and underwent keyhole surgery to try and find the cause for her infertility.
She was told her tubes were damaged "beyond repair".
That was when it became like a "race against time", as the couple didn't want to wait anymore.
They gathered £12,000 and went to Cyprus in December for IVF which failed.
"When someone tells you that you can't have children, it is heart-breaking," Danielle said.
"We decided to give IVF one more try in the UK, and we couldn't believe it when our first two week pregnancy test told us that we were having two babies, we're so happy."
Danielle contracted septicaemia when her arm hit the road of the crash but it spread while surgeons tried to rebuild her arm after her accident which she says is the reason the entire limb was later removed.
She said the septicaemia was spreading "so rapidly that my parents were told I had 36 hours to live unless they amputated my arm".
Danielle, Tony and Ethan are now excited for the future and to become a family of five.
She added: "We were absolutely ecstatic when we found out we are having twins, and are ridiculously excited to meet them.
"People wonder will I manage with just one arm, but I am very capable and I am always finding new ways to do things.
"It may take me a little longer to do things like tie my hair but I can still drive and look after myself and family.
"It has all happened so fast, last year I was told I was unable to have more and now I have two on the way, we couldn't be happier."
