Nitin Gadkari takes up a programme to make Maharashtra districts diesel-free

“I have taken up a program to make six districts – Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Wardha – diesel-free”, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at the CII National Council meeting. Mr. Gadkari initiates to make these districts diesel-free as not even a single drop of diesel will be here for five years.

For the move, six factories have been set up where bio-CNG will be produced for trucks and buses. Currently 50 buses are in use that run on this fuel. “Organic farming is the future,” he added.

Gadkari, who holds the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said, “We must look forward to alternative sources for financing beyond banks.” He also said that in previous five years, the transport sector has gained an investment of around Rs 17 lakh crore.

The move aims to bring improvements and the Government at the Centre has no plans to shut down any industry but it is planning to roll out changes based on the interests of the people.
