UP: Dalit man burnt alive in Pratapgarh

LUCKNOW: A dalit-man was allegedly burnt alive under Patti police station area of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The incident came to light when the villagers in Belarampur village woke up and went to the fields only to find charred body of one Vinay Prakash Saroj (33). They later informed the kin of Saroj.
Pratapgarh SP Avanish Mishra told TOI that Saroj had come to sleep in the fields for guarding his haystack on late Sunday night.
The sequence of events leading to the death of Saroj is yet to be ascertained. "The post-mortem examination is being conducted which will provide clues in the causes of his death. We are yet to get any complaint from the kin of deceased so far,” added Mishra.
Uttar Pradesh chairman of SC/ST Commission Brij Lal has condemned the incident and instructed the police to arrest the accused.
