BHAGALPUR: Dispute in sharing the prize money of a lottery ticket purchased jointly by two friends resulted in the killing of one of them by the other, said Naugachia police sources on Monday.
Md Niyaz Mansoori (28), was killed by his friend Phulo Rai on Friday. The body of the deceased, which was buried under heaps of sand in a house which was under construction, was recovered by the police on Sunday.

Police sources said that Niyaz, a resident of Mumtaj mohalla in Naugachia and Phulo, a resident of Naugachia Bazaar locality, had purchased a lottery ticket by pooling money nearly three months ago. They won a prize money of Rs 1 lakh. Niyaz collected the prize money from the lottery company as the ticket was in his possession. But instead of sharing the prize money in equal amount with Phulo (the accused), he paid only Rs 30,000 to the latter and was trying to avoid him for the last two months.
Naugachia SP Nidhi Rani said Naugachia PS SHO Lal Bahadur Singh has been suspended following investigation about the charges levelled by the family of the victim.
