Six minor girls raped in last seven days in Bijnor

There has been a spate of rapes of minor girls in Bijnor with as many as six such cases reported in the district in the past seven days. The latest one was reported on Sunday evening where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Bijnor’s Kiratpur area. The accused has been arrested.

BIJNOR: There has been a spate of rapes of minor girls in Bijnor with as many as six such cases reported in the district in the past seven days. The latest one was reported on Sunday evening where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Bijnor’s Kiratpur area. The accused has been arrested.
In the other rape cases, the minors were aged between seven and 16 years.
FIRs have been lodged.
The latest crime was reported at Jataan Mohalla of Kiratpur town on Sunday evening and the accused was arrested on Monday. According to police, 21-year-old neighbour, Aaseef, lured the girl and took her to his house, raped her and then fled. The girl’s family and other neighbours came to her rescue.
Locals and the girl’s family informed the police and took her to a private hospital. She is stated to be out of danger. The police have registered a case under section 376 of IPC and POCSO Act. Aaseef has been arrested.
Addressing a press conference, superintendent of police, Sanjeev Tyagi, claimed that police have taken cognizance of the crime, arrested the accused and sent him to prison.
In other recent rape cases, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her friend’s 22-year-old brother at her friend’s house on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The minor’s family has alleged that the girl’s 19-year-old friend had taken the girl to her house at Paadali Mandu village under Dhampur police station area. The girl remained missing from her house on Saturday night and narrated her ordeal to the family on Sunday.

In another case, a 16-year-old girl in Dhampur area accused a 22-year-old neighbour of raping her following which a case was registered. Police arrested the accused and sent him to jail. It took place at Nai Saray Mohalla of Bijnor’s Dhampur.
On June 13, two minors - aged seven and eight - were raped in two separate rape cases under Barhapur police station in Bijnor. The police registered the two cases and made arrests. The crime was committed in Sikkawala and Ismaelpur villages. One girl was asleep while the other was going to a wedding.
In yet another case, a 16-year-old girl was raped after Saddam allegedly entered her house and raped her at Meerapur Mohli in Bijnor’s Afzalgarh area on June 12. An FIR was filed and the police have booked Saddam.
Dr Beena Singh, a social worker, told TOI, “Minor girls are soft targets for rapists. They cannot resist the advances of these men. Parents should be more careful and keep a watch on their girls’ whereabouts. And they should not leave their daughter alone. They should always interact with their children. Also, prompt and strict action should be taken in such crimes by police and court.”
Bijnor superintendent of police, Sanjeev Tyagi, assured, “The police are taking strict and prompt action against the accused. Parents should also maintain a close watch on their girls.”
