A 35-year-old foreign national was found murdered at her rented accommodation in south Delhi’s Mehrauli on Monday evening. The police have registered a case and begun probe.

DCP (South) Vijay Kumar said that the victim has been identified as Annsam from Kenya, who had been living in Chhatarpur Extension for the last few months. “A PCR call was received at 8.10 p.m. in which the caller said that his sister had been killed. When the police reached the spot, the woman was found dead with a knife wound on her chest,” Mr. Kumar said adding that her body was sent for a postmortem.

During investigation, a few women who reside in the building have been picked up for questioning. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident happened after a minor scuffle over sharing beer but the motive will become clear after further probe,” said a senior police officer.

The police said that a case under Section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and two kitchen knives have been recovered from the spot. “One of them is suspected to have been used for commission of crime,” the officer said.
