NOU, Munger varsity VCs to deliver lectures at conferences in China, Hungary

Nalanda Open University vice-chancellor (VC) Ravindra Kumar Sinha left for China on Tuesday to participate in an international conference on ‘Persistent, Bioaccumulative, Toxic Substances’ being organized by Harbin Institute of Technology from June 21 to 23.

PATNA: Nalanda Open University vice-chancellor (VC) Ravindra Kumar Sinha left for China on Tuesday to participate in an international conference on ‘Persistent, Bioaccumulative, Toxic Substances’ being organized by Harbin Institute of Technology from June 21 to 23.
Sinha, a noted environmentalist, will talk about ‘Toxic Substances in the Ganga’ on June 22 and chair a scientific session the same day.
He will also deliver lectures on ‘Impact of Climate Change on Human Health and Natural Resources’, ‘Biodiversity and Sustainable Development’, ‘Management of River Ecosystem: A Case Study of River Ganga’ as well as ‘Ecosystem Goods and Services’.
Sinha had been invited to deliver lectures at international conferences held in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bangkok and China last year.
Meanwhile, Munger University VC Ranjit Kumar Verma reached Budapest on Tuesday to deliver a lecture at a joint international thermoanalytical conference convened by Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Slovakia from June 18 to 20.
Verma, who is also a member of the international scientific committee of the conference, will chair a session on June 20. In his lecture, he will focus on the thermo-oxidative decomposition of mustard oil, which is not suitable for use at high temperature. He will also demonstrate how use of turmeric slows down such decomposition and reduces the harmful effects.
