How to get audio broadcasts from IndyStar on your Apple, Amazon Alexa and Google devices

Your electronic devices are an ultra-convenient way for you to check the weather, set a reminder, listen to music and so much more. Now, you can use these devices to get local news from IndyStar.

Whether you have an Apple, Amazon Alexa-capable or Google device, you can listen to stories that matter to you, picked by our staffers every day. And the best part: these broadcasts are free.

Each day, IndyStar broadcasts four stories on your device. The first three are local stories about topics such as crime, politics, sports, entertainment, dining and more. The fourth story you'll hear is a national news story. These are hand-picked by IndyStar staffers every night to ensure that the stories you care about are broadcast.

IndyStar Flash Briefings are available as an Amazon Alexa skill. You can also select IndyStar as a news source on the Google Home app or a Google Home device, and you can find us on the Apple Podcasts app.

Here's how to download the IndyStar Alexa Flash Briefing skill: Open the Amazon Alexa app, go to the menu and select "Skills." Search "IndyStar" under "Skills," then select the skill and enable it. You may then ask: "Alexa, what's my Flash Briefing?" or some variation of the question, and your device will present you with our hand-picked stories.

You may also download IndyStar's Flash Briefings on the Alexa Skill Store on the Amazon website

If you own a Google Home device, here's how to choose IndyStar as a news source: Open your Google Home app and tap "Account." Then tap "Settings," scroll down to find "Add news sources" and choose IndyStar. Once you've picked us, just ask: "Hey Google, play the latest news from the IndyStar.”

And lastly, to find us on Apple's Podcasts app, just search "IndyStar." The correct podcast's logo will have a yellow star in front of a blue background. Click "Subscribe."

Once you've subscribed, you'll immediately get the current day's broadcast, and you'll get a new one every day after.
