BJP youth wing member killed in Cooch Behar
Cooch Behar/Barrackpore: Post-election violence continued in Bengal on Tuesday, with a BJP youth wing activist allegedly dying in Cooch Behar after attackers slashed his throat.
Ananda Pal had joined BJP from Trinamool Congress a few months back. Sources said the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha mandal committee member was a resident of Maruganj of Natabari area in Cooch Behar.

On Tuesday, his body was found near a waterbody at Kanthaltala under Dauaguri gram panchayat. While his throat was slit, there were several wounds on his body. Local BJP leaders, who accused Trinamool of continuing post-poll violence, sat on dharna on NH 31.
“He had joined BJYM from TMC some time back. On Monday evening, he atte-nded a picnic and left for home after it was over. His body was found near a waterbody on Tuesday morning,” said Enamul Haque, BJP leader at the Maruganj area.
The party’s district leader Malati Rava said BJP had secured a lead from the Natabari assembly segment in the Lok Sabha polls. “TMC is afraid of losing its base here and is trying to terrorise people,” she said.
TMC leader and minister Rabidranath Ghosh, howeverm claimed Pal was a TMC worker and had been killed by BJP supporters. “BJP workers have been trying to intimidate people. They are behind post-poll violence in the district. We have asked police to arrest his murderers,” he said.
In a tweet, BJP’s Bengal minder Kailash Vijayvargiya alleged that TMC workers had killed Pal. TMC leaders refuted allegations of any party member being involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, tension continued at Kakinada in Barrackpore after at least two persons were injured following bombing. Ten people were arrested. Fresh clashes at Kakinada were reported from Monday afternoon with bombing in localities like No.6 rail siding and Jagaddal along Ghosh Para Road. Locals claimed bombing continued all night.
