INDORE: Four prisoners of
Neemuch district jail in
Madhya Pradesh escaped early Sunday morning.
One of the absconding men was a murder accused while another was a rape accused. The duo was booked under the NDPS Act.
Nar Singh, Bansilal Banjara, 20, residents of Ganeshpura in
Udaipur was sentenced to ten years in an NDPS case, Dubeylal (19), a resident of Gogri was sentenced to ten years in a rape case, Pankaj Mongiya (21), a resident of Chittor was booked un NDPS case and Lekhram Bawari, a resident of Chandwasa in Mandsaur was sentenced in a murder case.
All accused reportedly escaped from the jail using ropes.
DGP jail Sanjay Choudhary told TOI that the inmates had help from outside. "One of the inmates got help from his local accomplices who tied a rope around an MPEB pole outside the jail boundary and threw it inside. All the four accused scaled the wall with the help of the rope."
DGP added that all the senior jail officials have reached the spot to investigate the matter and they would submit an analysis on what security lapse led to this incident following which appropriate actions will be initiated.
"We have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 each on any information about the accused," he said.
