HOWRAH: A woman, along with her paramour, plotted the murder of her son as the 12-year-old boy opposed their relationship.
The Howrah City Police on Friday arrested the mother, Kakoli Roy, a nurse at a private nursing home, and her lover, Ranjit Bhar, for murder, criminal conspiracy and common intention. A probe revealed Kakoli plotted Subham’s killing and Bhar, owner of a private bus, executed it. Her husband had died a few years ago and she met Bhar on social media.
Cops’ suspicion was raised when they found discrepancies while recording Kakoli’s statement after she lodged a complaint of her son’s kidnapping at the Chatterjee Haat police station on Friday.
During interrogation, she broke down and put the blame on Bhar, said an officer.
A call from the Chatterjee Haat police station was made to the Kankurgachhi police station at a time Bhar was coincidentally there. On returning home with bruises in the morning, Bhar had apparently told his family he was attacked by goons, and so, they went to lodge a complaint. Bhar was detained and cops from Howrah took him in custody.
Police said Kakoli left home on Thursday evening, apparently for night duty. A little later, Bhar visited her home and told Subham she had been hospitalised and he must visit her. Subham left with Bhar, who took him to the railway siding and pushed him in front of a running train, police said.
