BHU resident doctor commits suicide in hostel room

Manisha Kumari, a junior resident-I of ophthalmology department of Institute of Medical Science Banaras Hindu University, committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling of her hostel room on varsity campus on Sunday afternoon.

VARANASI: Manisha Kumari, a junior resident-I of ophthalmology department of Institute of Medical Science Banaras Hindu University, committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling of her hostel room on varsity campus on Sunday afternoon.
Police has sent her body for postmortem. In her two-page suicide note, she mentioned that she was frustrated from her tuberculosis.
Inspector Lanka Bharat Bhushan said that on being alerted by inmates of lady doctors’ hostel, the BHU proctorial board reported the matter to police after which they reached the hostel and sent the body for postmortem.

Manisha, a native of Jamui in Bihar had joined ophthalmology department of IMS BHU as junior resident-I in 2017. Varsity had allotted room 41 of lady doctors’ hostel to her. Around 12.30pm she hanged herself to the ceiling of her hostel room. Incident came to light when other inmates noticed her body hanging and raised an alarm.
Police also informed her parents about the incident.
