VIJAYAWADA: The Director General of Police (DGP) D Gautam Sawang on Sunday condemned the rape of a minor girl at Ongole.
He said the safety and security of women and children will be given highest priority by Andhra Pradesh police. He said perpetrators will be dealt with tough measures and brought to book systematically.
Sawang appreciated Prakasham district SP Siddarth Kaushal and other officials for arresting all the five accused within a few hours.

The top cop appealed to girls to be more cautious and careful while they move around and travel. He also appealed to people to give information to police when they notice troublemakers. “It was one such spirited person who gave information to the police which led to the prompt action and detection of the case,” he said.
The DGP instructed the SP to see to that the case is investigated thoroughly to convict the accused.
Meanwhile, home minister Mekathoti Sucharitha spoke to Siddarth Kaushal and enquired about the health of the girl who is presently being treated at Ongole government hospital. Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy visited the girl at the hospital and assured of all help from the state government. He said the perpetrators will be brought to book and toughest punishment will be given to them.
