Kolkata gets direct flight to Gwalior

SpiceJet has introduced a direct flight between Kolkata and Gwalior and is set to connect Durgapur with Mumbai from Tuesday.

KOLKATA: SpiceJet has introduced a direct flight between Kolkata and Gwalior and is set to connect Durgapur with Mumbai from Tuesday.
Operated with a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft, the flight duration either way is 2.5 hours. The flight to Gwalior takes off at 1.10pm and the return flight touches down in Kolkata at 6.20pm.
The airline will use the bigger Boeing B 737-800 aircraft on the Mumbai-Durgapur-Mumbai sector.
The flight from Mumbai will reach Durgapur at 10.05am. The return flight will take off from Durgapur for Mumbai at 10.45am.
Next month, the airline is expected to introduce a flight connecting Durgapur to Chennai. Both flights are under the regional connectivity scheme Udan III.
SpiceJet is now the second largest carrier connecting Kolkata and currently has 33 domestic and three international departures from the city. It also has 11 domestic departures from Bagdogra. From Tuesday, it will have a departure from Durgapur airport as well.
