A British Twitter user who compiled a series of life lessons in celebration of his birthday, has been praised by social media users for inspiring their own lives.

Declan Cashin who boasts over 28,000 followers on Twitter, sparked a viral conversation about how to make the most of life after posting 38 life lessons to honour his 38th birthday.

Allowing himself to be vulnerable, he told how he struggled with the death of his father earlier this year and revealed the difficulties he's had with relationships.

Fellow social media users were quick to show their support for the thread and wished the curator a happy birthday.

Declan listed a variety of advice, from making the most of opportunities to do activities including visiting the cinema and restaurants alone to managing debt, Declan shared advice that people at any age could relate to.

Speaking about career growth, Declan explained the importance of asking for high salaries during the recruitment process and warned that there's no such thing as a job for life.

He wrote: 'There's no such thing as a job for life. Or a career for life for that matter.

'When your're offered a new job, always ask for more money than you think is possible. Always. Absolutely always. It's very difficult to get that once you're in the job.

'Stop telling yourself you're not good enough or qualified enough for that job in your field. Look at the world around you. Look at the people who are in charge. Trust me you're good enough. You're qualified.' 

Sharing advice for mental health, he revealed how it can be beneficial to seek help from a therapist and why you should avoid comparing yourself to others.

'Get a therapist if you can. Everyone. Even if you think you don't need one. Especially if you think you don't need one.

'Comparing yourself to others is a mental health catastrophe. I still do it. But I try to catch myself doing it now.

'I've been on anti-depressants for five years now. Not sure if they're working or not, I don't know anything, really, when it comes to mental health, only that I'm willing to try whatever I can to stay steady and relatively healthy.'
