ALLAHABAD: Passengers travelling on board Prayagraj Express will soon have a slew of amenities, including better lighting system, large windows, bio-toilets, lamps on all AC seats and sound insulation as the Allahabad division of North Central Railways (NCR) is all set to revamp the passenger amenities in the train to commemorate completion of 35 years of its plying.
“Prayagraj Express, introduced on July 16, 1984, is the first ISO 9001certified train in India and connects Allahabad with the national capital.
As it is completing 35 years of successful running in July, we have planned a slew of passenger amenities,” said an NCR official.
When the train was introduced, its number was 91UP/92DN and its coaches were of red colour with ICF/screw coupling in which vacuum brake was used. In 2003, the coaches were changed to blue colour and air brake system instead of vacuum brake was introduced. The train presently has the latest red colour technically advanced Link Hoffman Bush (LHB) rakes introduced on December 18, 2016, for better safety of passengers, he added. Recently, during Kumbh 2019, theme-based vinyl wrapping was introduced. “Railways is consistently taking measures to upgrade the facilities in the train to make the journey of the passengers more comfortable,” said DRM Allahabad, Amitabh.
He said recently the railways started providing mink blankets to the passengers of first class and second class air-conditioned coaches as well as new linen sets of excellent quality.
“In addition, a GPS-based location destination display board is also being installed in coaches to provide the information of the incoming station in order to provide the new facility to the passengers,” he added.
