MCC embraces technology: Mysuru citizens can now pay their water bills online

MYSURU: Mysuru Paying water bills is now just a tap away as the Mysuru City Corporation on Friday launched the online option that will be available to its 1.56 lakh water consumers.
Consumers can log onto www.mysorecity.mrc.gov.in, navigate to the payment link. They will use the Bharat Bill Payment System, which is recognised by the National Payments Corporation of India.Consumers won't be charged for this service. Launching the service at the MCC's old council hall, mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath said consumers needn't stand in queues or go to corporation offices to pay their bills. They can now do it from the comfort of their homes, offices or on the go.
Until now, consumers could pay their water bills at any of the 16 services centres, MysuruONE centres or through DD, cheque or cash.
MCC commissioner CT Shilpa Nag said currently payment can be mad e through 10 banks and two mobile applications - mobikwik app or BHIM app. More banks will be added to the system so that consumers can pay through their accounts.
SMS alerts
Water consumers can register for mobile alerts to receive information about bills and dues. This will enable them to receive bills directly to their registered mobile numbers every month. "So far, 65,000 consumers have registered their mobile numbers with MCC," said Shilpa.
Reading on camera
To increase efficiency of meter readers, photo billing facility has been introduced. Meter readers will click photographs of meters installed at consumers' homes or other establishment and upload them to a portal.These bills, once generated, will be directly sent to the customers, and the payment can be completed online.
