AURANGABAD: A journalism student has accused a police sub-inspector of sending her 'friendship' messages on her mobile phone soon after she sought police help for locating a classmate who had gone missing.
The 19-year-old student on Saturday approached police commissioner Chiranjeev Prasad with her complaint. The officer termed the move as unprofessional and exceeding the limits.
"We will inquire into the matter," he told TOI.
The complainant's friend left home for buying a gift for her younger brother for his birthday around 8.30pm on Friday. When she did not return home for few hours, her parents and teachers tried reaching her over the phone, but there was not answer.
The worried parents called her friends and inquired if they knew where their daughter was. The girl, who has complained to the police chief, rushed to her friend's house and started helping her family members in their search.
After failing to get any possible clues from her friends, including her male friends, the complainant dialled the police control room for quick action.
Soon a team led by the PSI, who is alleged to have sent messages to the girl, reached the missing girl's house and took details of the missing girl as well as the complainant. The police team assured the family that they would look into the matter and left the place.
Meanwhile, the girl who had gone missing called the family from Pune around 3am on Saturday. "The girl took the mobile from of a rickshaw driver and called her parents informing her whereabouts at Shivajinagar, Pune," the complainant told TOI .
"The informed that two unidentified men sprayed something on her and she fell unconscious, following which they santched her cell phone, cash and ring before dropping her at Pune." The girls parents called a relative in Pune who took her to their house. The parents left Aurangabad for Pune later in the day to bring their daughter back.
