PATNA: Governor-cum-chancellor Lalji Tandon took strong exception to the reported question paper leak of Economics and Mathematics of Magadh University ( MU ) degree Part I examinations ( 2018 ) and has ordered to hold a high-level inquiry into the matter.
Examinations of these two papers, which were scheduled to be held on June 28 and 29, at different examination centres in Patna and other places, were cancelled by the university after question papers of these two subjects went viral on social media also on Thursday.

Expressing serious concern, Tandon directed the MU VC incharge, Prof D P Tiwary, to hold an inquiry and bring the culprits to book immediately . The chancellor also asked the MU VC that university examinations should be free and fair. In a release issued by the Raj Bhavan, the chancellor said the government is making all possible efforts to bring desired reforms in the higher education scenario to benefit talented and promising students of the state.
According to an MU official , the VC has set up a five-member committee to probe the question paper leak. The VC also asked the officials concerned to lodge an FIR in the matter so that a police probe could also begin in the matter, he said .
Meanwhile, aggrieved students of the university owing allegiance to different political parties and students’ union wings held demonstrations at the university headquarters at Bodh Gaya and various colleges in here . The agitated students, who termed the paper leak as unfortunate, were demanding resignation of the MU examination controller Vinod Singh . They also expressed their apprehension that the examinations of these two cancelled papers would be delayed further by the university at a time when their examinations have already been delayed .
It may be recalled that the MU examination department was in the news for wrong reasons in the past. The state vigilance department is still carrying out a probe into the alleged fake degree racket of the university .
