Kollam: Youth held for murder attempt

Kollam: Sasthamkotta police on Tuesday arrested a private bus conductor who had barged into the house of a Plus-One student and stabbed her in revenge over spurned love. Anandu, 20, of Sasthamkotta is the arrested. The 16-year-old girl, currently under treatment at Thiruvananthapuram MCH, is recovering.

The incident took place at Thottumuri in Kunnathoor around 2 am on Monday. Anandu barged into the girl’s room through a door on the first floor of the house and repeatedly stabbed her on belly using a screw driver following a brawl.

As the parents rushed to her room hearing her scream, he fled the scene.

According to Sasthamkotta police, Anandu and the girl were in love affair and Anandu developed suspicion over her conduct. He had accused her of having relationship with other persons and used to argue with her.

The girl who was seriously injured was first taken to the taluk hospital in Sasthamkotta and later to the MCH. The arrested will be produced before the court on Wednesday.

A week ago, a girl had a miraculous escape when a youth Shinu, 25, of Chamavila Veedu, Vadasserikkonam, Varkala, entered her house at Thattamala, Eravipuram, by removing the roof tiles and spilled petrol over her in an attempt to set her ablaze.
